The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has selected FieldNET® by Lindsay Pivot Control as a recipient of the 2016 AE50 award. The award recognizes the year’s most innovative designs in engineering products or systems for the food and agriculture industries.
Pivot Control is the industry’s first solution for upgrading almost any brand of pivot to full remote irrigation control and monitoring capabilities. Because it eliminates the need to manage multiple irrigation system brands, it saves time and reduces chances of operator error.
“We are very pleased and honored to receive this award,” said Reece Andrews, FieldNET business manager for Lindsay. “Pivot Control is a game changer for growers who want to reduce labor costs and increase overall efficiency in their operations.”
Tom Faulkner raises potatoes, corn, wheat and alfalfa on his south central Idaho farm. He installed Pivot Control on several of his older center pivot irrigation systems, including a pivot manufactured in the mid 1960s.
“This new technology on older pivots is really handy, because you are able to program different irrigation patterns into the system,” Faulkner said. “As long as I have a cellphone signal, I can start and stop my pivots remotely or just move the pivots dry so the guys spraying or applying fertilizer can do their thing.”
A panel of international judges reviews entries from around the world and designates up to 50 of the best products as AE50 Award winners. The judges select products that will best advance engineering for the food and agriculture industries and help growers, food processors and equipment manufacturers cut costs, enhance quality and increase profits.
