Modern irrigation has allowed many developing countries to become more self-sufficient and other countries to become more efficient. The installation of Zimmatic® sprinkler irrigation systems in more demanding conditions, such as sandy soils or undulating terrain, has offered many countries a way to increase their productive land resource base.
This is especially important to nations that are heavily dependent upon imports of food and feed grains to meet the needs of their people.

In countries already using irrigation, the automation and control offered by Zimmatic has allowed these projects to operate more efficiently. For example, the application of fertilizer and other agricultural chemicals through the systems--otherwise called chemigation--is far more accurate than either surface or aerial application of chemicals.
