Below the Olympic golf course in Rio sits an irrigation pumping system installed by Watertronics, a Lindsay Company - a proud partner in the construction of the first Olympic golf course in 104 years.
In an interview with WTMJ-TV, Rick Reinders, president of Watertronics, spoke about some of the unique challenges that came with the project.
“The golf course is right along the ocean, so there’s some salt water intrusion that comes into the reservoir, the base is a marine grade aluminum, and the coating on the pip is designed to prevent corrosion,” said Reinders. “Really what was impressive was the transformation from a pretty rough looking area to what it is now. It was an amazing amount of work to get it there.
